District Court Defers Ruling on Motion for Jurisdictional Discovery

On June 28, 2017, District Judge James D. Peterson deferred ruling on Plaintiff Imran Niazi’s motion for jurisdiction discovery under the recently decided TC Heartland case, and ordered the parties to complete their briefing on Defendant Medtronic, Inc’s motion to dismiss for improper venue on June 26, 2017 in the United States District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin (Madison).  District Judge Peterson decided that the court would consider whether discovery is appropriate once reviewing through both parties’ briefs applying the post-TC Heartland standard. The patent-at-issue is U.S. Patent No. 6,638,268, entitled “Catheter To Cannulate the Coronary Sinus.” The case is captioned, Niazi, Imran v. Medtronic, Inc., 3-17-cv-00283.
